The music industry is constantly evolving as technology and consumer habits change.

Whereas radio and MTV were once the main hubs where new songs were discovered, apps like Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok are now the dominant platforms where fans find music.

The number of tools available to artists to compose and distribute songs is also growing rapidly, even as consolidation has centered power in the industry among a few big record corporations.

In the last few years, a slew of new startups has emerged to help artists create, distribute, monetize, and promote their work.

Some upstarts, like Catalog and Royal, are building out Web3 features for artists using blockchain technology. Others, such as Mayk, have built tools for creators to make DIY-style music on their phones. Several companies are also innovating on the cost- and revenue-sharing structures for music distribution across streaming apps.

Insider is compiling our inaugural list of the top music startups building products for artists, record labels, and other music creators.

We are seeking nominations from readers on the companies they believe are the most innovative and promising newcomers in the music world.
